I AM LOOKING FOR ANY RELATION OF MY MUM'S MOTHER MARGARET ECKFORD BORN  16TH DECEMBER 1896  NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE. SHE MARRIED 20 YRS HER SENIOR WILLIAM FOSTER OF KIRK LANGLEY DARBYSHIRE A WIDOWER WITH A SON ALF FOSTER . HER MUM DIED IN 1978 AGED 82.  Hi, I am not at all definite but I will contact my friend in america who has done extensive searching on the Eckford family name. We might possibly be related, as most Eckfords from that area are somewhere down the line! We are one of the few Eckford family's actually left in Britain, (alas not Scotland, although we might possibly go home one day) as everyone else seems to have moved abroad! ha

Do you have any more details such as her parents names or perhaps siblings? It would be great help to matching her family tree up if we did.

My MUM's MUM MARGARET LILLICO ECKFORD WAS BORN IN NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE 16TH NOVEMBER 1896 HER MOTHER ALSO MARGARET LILICO? CAME FROM ECKFORD AND HER FARTHER---- ECKFORD WAS A FARMER, MY MUM REMEMBERS GOING FOR A VISIT DURING THE WAR TO PLAY AND SEE HER COUSINS NAMES THOMASINA, AND TWO BOYS FORGOTTEN THEIR NAMES THOMASINA MARRIED WENT TO MONTREAL CANADA.

My mum now 82 lost her mum 1978 two years after my dad.

Hello, there is a Lillico family in Eckford mentioned in the 1851 census:

WIlliam, age 30, Gardener

Margaret, age 28

Margaret, age 5

Jane, age 3

The parents were born in Roxburgh village, the children in Eckford.
